DESIRE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SOCIETY - Mr Ayibiowu
The Assistant Director, Community Development Service Mr Felix Ayibiowu has told the 2021 Batch A Stream II Corps Members that they should always have desire to contribute to the society.
While delivering a lecture on community development service at the Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Thursday, Mr Felix urged corps members to have positive impacts on their host communities.
Speaking further he explained that the community development service is aimed at making corps members promote self reliance by systematically proposing and executing development projects and programs which will impact positively on the socioeconomic development of the host communities and the nation at large.
He thereafter urged them to be willing to contribute to the community by looking out for the felt needs of the communities and using their trainings and expertise to mobilise towards meeting such needs.
He stated that there are procedures involved in executing CDS projects such as: informing the LGI first, writing proposals and being ready to defend the usefulness of the project, getting approval of the state coordinator to embark on such a project, among others.
Additionally, he stated that some of the benefits of participating in CDS is the satisfaction and fulfilment one feels when the lives of people become better through the selfless service rendered and also one stands the chance of winning awards.
He stated further that there are three awards available for Corps members to benefit from namely: Local Government award, State honour's award and the presidential award.
In concluding his lecture, he urged all present to be good to persons around them and maximize the opportunity to meet with new people, and not take up projects just for the goal of receiving awards but for the impact they will be making.
