3216 CORPS MEMBERS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE ONE-YEAR MANDATORY SERVICE IN OSUN STATE
A total of 3216 corps members of the 2019 Batch C Stream 1 complete the one year mandatory service to the nation in Osun State on Thursday.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke while monitoring the exercise in Osogbo and Olorunda. According to him, three corps members will be remobilised because they asconded from service while seven had their service year extended.
Adegoke further noted with deep sadness that there was a record of one death for the set.
The passing out of the Corps members was devoid of the usual ceremonial parade which was in adherence to the protocols spelt out by the NCDC to stop the spread of the corona virus.
Meanwhile, the Director, NYSC Southwest Area Office, Mr Emmanuel Attah had earlier admonished the corps members to be of good conduct and to implement the knowledge inculcated in them from school and the NYSC towards the nation building.
He gave the charge while monitoring the distribution exercise in Ede North and South on Thursday. He charged the members to make positive use of all they have learned during the period of their one year compulsory service inspite of the interference of the covid-19 which according to him could not truncate the scheme's relevance.
Attah warned the corps members against joining any protest while in service or using the NYSC uniform wrongly after the collection of their certificate of national service. He said the scheme frowns at this and would not hesitate to deal with any corps member who engages in such acts.
He conclusively wished the members well enjoining them to continue to be good ambassadors of the scheme and the nation.
The distribution of the certificates took place across the 30 local government areas and one area office with the management team and other senior staff of the scheme supervising the distribution.
The COVID-19 preventive measures was strictly followed and the distribution of the certificate of national service staggered for some days.
