STAFF GIFTS ORPHANAGE WHEELCHAIR, SANITARY ITEMS
A Staff of the National Youth Service Corps, Osun State on Tuesday donated a wheelchair, pampers and disposable underpads to the Lord's Heritage Orphanage Home for the Physically Challenged and Orphans in Ede, Osun State.
The donation which was done at the premise of the home was born out of the desire to deliver on the mandate of the National Youth Service Corps.
The scheme since the novel coronavirus had been at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic. The Director General, Secretariats and corps members have been augmenting the efforts of the government by reaching out to the less privilege and vulnerable across the nation.
The scheme through its manpower touched the lives of the populace through donations of palliative, preventive items like liquid soap, sanitizer, face masks, among other items. Various jingles and skits were also produced by states to sensitise the people on the virus.
Leveraging on this, a staff of the scheme in the state donated a wheelchair, pampers and disposable underpads to the Lord's Heritage Orphanage Home, a gesture, which according to her, was born out of a desire to reach out to the less privileged.
According to her, following the State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke and the Ede North corps members to the home recently sparked in her compassion for the children in the home.
She further used the opportunity to call out to other staff and well-meaning Nigerians to lend a helping hand to homes where the physically challenged, abandoned babies and orphans are being taken care of. She added that many of these homes are lamenting the dearth of care and palliative since the pandemic started.
The Proprietress of the home, Mrs Temitope Isaac appreciated the gesture of NYSC and the staff. She said that since the pandemic started NYSC has been reaching out to them as a group or individually.
"The donation is an answer to our prayers as we have been trying to get additional wheelchairs and more of these items for the children. I am indeed grateful to God and also NYSC for not abandoning us. My vision for this home was birthed during my service year and I am glad for the support we have been getting from NYSC" she added.
