*The Greatest Opportunity You Have Is Now*- Adeleke
The Director Audit, and Director Overseeing the Ventures Department, NYSC, Mr Adeleke Abiodun, on Friday paid a visit to the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
While addressing the 2019 Batch C Stream II corps members, he expressed immense gratitude to God for granting the corps members journey mercies from far and near to the state of Osun and also for their successful mobilisation for the service year, which he described as the greatest opportunity for the members.
Adeleke urged corps members to remain disciplined, knowing fully well that they are ambassadors of the country, according to him, "keep up with your patriotism, and ensure to contribute your quota in national development, not only during the orientation course but all through your service year and beyond".
More so, he implored corps members to shed every preconceived notion they have, as regarding their state of security, and assured them of maximum security. Instead, he urged corps members to deliver their best, stressing the fact that, the opportunities they need are right at their disposal, hence should embrace them and by the end of their service be known for good legacies.
Adeleke advised corps members against incessant travellings, urging them to inform the necessary authorities and obtain permission before embarking on any journey.
He further reiterated the importance of the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme (SAED) stating that the Director General and the management of the scheme are putting in efforts towards expanding the frontiers of the programme to ensure the best professionals are brought on board as trainers and also to have SAED centres in all the states where corps members can learn a skill of their choice.
He also stated how the scheme had collaborated with several agencies, professionals in their respective fields to train corps members in the skill of their choice.
Further more, he noted with sadness, incidents of corps members indulging themselves in illegal activities, according to him, "make friends that will positively impact you". He urged them to avoid behaviours capable of denting their image and that of the scheme.
Meanwhile, Abiodun has charged officials of the scheme to encourage maximum participation by corps members in the SAED programme saying that "it is the in thing now". He gave the charge while addressing collaborating agencies and NYSC officials during his visit.
He appreciated all the collaborating agencies for always being there for the scheme and urged them to continue to work in synergy with the scheme to make her succeed in her quest of building tomorrow's leaders.
Earlier on, the State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke appreciated the Director for deeming it fit to pay the camp a visit. The gesture, according to him, will go a long way in motivating the corps members and encouraging them to serve selflessly and diligently knowing fully well that the management of the scheme really cares about them.
