Osogbo Residents Receive Massive Sensitization as Editorial CDS Dances Against Drug Abuse
The residents of the city of Osogbo have received massive sensitization and turn around education as corps members from the Editorial CDS, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Osun State stormed the streets to dance and campaign against the dangers of drug abuse.
The campaign which cut across the major routes of the city had in attendance the students of Osogbo Government High School, The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials and other corps members who came en masse with the primary objective to curb the menace of excessive intake of drugs in the society.
The event which was kicked off at the premises of Osogbo Government High School sensitized the people in the metropolis to the larger populace at Oke-Fia junction, then to the traders at Orisumbare market, and finally to the commercial transport workers at Fakunle Junction.
The movement was however complemented with several special performances including the dance, drama, spoken words among others which aimed at exposing the evils of drug abuse to individual and the nation at large.
While giving her public address, the Deputy Editor of the group, Miss Goodness Essien empathized the need for the sensitization as the effects of drug abuse is increasing at an alarming rate over time both at local and national level. Meanwhile, some corps members were also given the platform to educate the public on the menace of drug abuse and how it could be eradicated for a better society.
In response, an audience while speaking with our correspondence appreciated the corps member for such innovative idea to tackle the problem of drug abuse as this had caused great effects to many lives and properties.
In conclusion, a member of the team, Mr Ezekiel Onome on behalf of the board expressed his gratitude to everyone for being part of the awesome awareness as he admonished them to continue the sensitization at their respective communities for total eradication.
