ILESA CORPS MEMBERS ORGANISE INTER-SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION
In a passion to enhance quality education, a group of corps members from Ilesa-East Local Government have organized an inter-school quiz competition for the secondary school students at Ilesa Government High School, Ilesa, Osun State
The team of corps members led by Miss Doris Okwuazu committed themselves to personal Community Development Service (CDS) program, one of the four cardinal programs of the scheme, hence contributing positively to the host communities.
The quiz competition which hosted about eight schools had in attendance the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) State Coordinator, Mr. Ayodele Adegoke represented by the NYSC head of CDS, Mr. Kayode Ola Peter and other officials from the scheme, as well staff representatives from various institutes.
Speaking while giving his speech, the representative of the State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters congratulated the convener and her team members, then disclosed the objectives of the CDS program. He enlightened that CDS is aimed at improving the economic, social, cultural, political, cultural, health and academic standards of host communities for sustainable development.
In the same vein, the Zonal Inspector for Ilesa zone, Mr. Lawal also congratulated the corps members for the event, hence stating that the quiz competition will induce a sustainable improvement on the students’ academic performance.
The winners of the competition both for junior and senior categories were awarded and honored with gifts. The winner and the runner up for junior category took home the sum of #10,000 and #7,000 respectively while the senior category was sum #20,000 and #10,000 respectively
