ADEGOKE CHARGES CORPS MEMBERS TO EMBRACE SKILL ACQUISITION
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke has charged the 2019 Batch B stream II corps members to embrace skills acquisition as a way out of the quagmire of unemployment.
He made the charge during the opening ceremony and flag off of the in-camp training of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme for the batch at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Monday 26th August.
Adegoke took the corps members through the objectives of the programme stating that it is geared towards making corps members not only self reliant but also, employers of labour. He said by doing this, corps members add value to themselves and also contribute to the economic development of the nation.
Earlier on, the Assistant Director, SAED, Mrs Olutayo Samuel charged the members to tenaciously take hold of the opportunity created by the scheme to become self-reliant. According to her, the State has some of the best skill trainers, some of whom were ex-corps members who cut their teeth in business by embracing the SAED in-camp and post-camp training.
She therefore enjoined them to take the programme seriously as SAED has been made compulsory for all.
Correspondingly, a public speaker and motivator, Mr Segun Oduyebo joined the advocates for skills acquisition by urging the corps members to develop skills that will enhance their contributing capacity to the system.
He further encouraged them to develop production, conceptual, conversion and revenue generation, and social networking capacity.
Testimony by serving corps members engaged in post camp training, exhibition of products by serving corps members, a eye-opening playlet and the Entrepreneurship Development Programme lecture were highlights of the event.
