NYSC OSUN STATE COORDINATOR CAUTIONS CORPS MEMBERS ON SUBSTANCE MISUSE
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator, Osun State, Mr Adegoke Adewale has urged Corp members in Oshogbo to exhibit caution in the use of chemical substances, particularly sniper, in order to prevent a reoccurrence of causality stemming from the misuse of such substances.
Mr Adewale stated this during a campaign program tagged "walk against sniper and substance abuse" which held at the NYSC Secretariat, Omo west in Oshogbo.
Mr Adegoke Adewale who expressed appreciation over the efforts of corps members in Osogbo to educate the public as well as create awareness over the proper use of chemical substances, noted that such sensitization program was timely and imperative.
Speaking further, he discouraged the act of self medication, adding that corps members should endeavour to seek proper medical attention in times of illness.
The Zonal Inspector, Mr Johnson Adediran also speaking at the sensitization program, emphasized that the program was a means of calling on the federal government to ensure the education of the general public on the use of chemical substances particular sniper .
He stressed that the program was birthed out of the death of a corps member, late Miss Ayomikun Ademorayo who died on the 8th of July 2019 over the inappropriate use of sniper.
He therefore reiterated on the urgency of the federal government to educate the masses on the proper use of chemical substances such as sniper in order to avoid future cases of casualty.
In order to butress their point, corps members carried placards which had inscriptions such as "Be aware, ignorance kills, Substance abuse kills, and Sniper is for insects not for human beings".
