DISTANCE IS ONLY PHYSICAL By Akinsaya Taibat.

Standing beside the bus, he looked at me. He murmured some words I couldn't hear clearly, probably bidding me farewell on my journey. I sat quietly in the bus, looking at him through the window with a feeling of loneliness running over my heart. He moved closer to me and whispered some words into my ear: "the distance is only physical; you will remain in my heart forever". A grin appeared on my face at that very moment.
There are some friendships imprinted in our hearts that will never be affected or influenced by space or distance. Distance only shows how far you are with someone or something. You might be far away from your loved ones physically but closer to them emotionally and mentally by remembering them always and never wanting to lose them.
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we are compelled to maintain distance from our family and friends. Where we might not have the privilege to have physical contact with our dear ones, just like the present situation in the world, in which the humanity is facing the pandemic of the novel and deadly Corona virus. As a result, physical distancing has been the daily lyric of health experts, government as well as individuals. But despite this distancing, families, friends and lovers are still staying connected not physically, but emotionally through phone calls, messages, video calls and several other means of staying connected. This only justifies the statement that "a strong friendship doesn't need daily physical conversation or togetherness; as long as the relationship lives in the heart, true friends will never part".
Have you ever wondered why some long distance relationships work? Have you ever thought why parents will continually love their children even when they are several miles away? These happen because distance is not by heart, it is a mere physical space between people. True friendship and relationship do not fail the test of time and distance. Unfortunately, some relationships and friendships have been affected by distance, leading to premature ending of beautiful relationships. But, I strongly believe that distance should never be an excuse for ending a relationship. In fact, a relationship that ends as a result of distance is not a real one from the onset, probably just a mirage.
The beautiful memories we created when we are together, linger in our heart, making it difficult for us to let go or forget each other. That is why it is highly essential to create beautiful memories when we are with our family and friends. No matter how far you are, no matter the miles away, distance is only physical, you will remain close to the heart of whoever cherishes and finds you worthy.
